Inside the museum, explore 16 themed rooms that bring the story of Cheyenne County and the surrounding region to life. From military life at the fort to pioneer settlement, Native American history, and the impact of the railroad, each exhibit is thoughtfully curated to connect visitors with the people and events that shaped this region.

MILITARY ROOM
Represents artifacts, and photography from the last 137 years starting with the Civil War.

Dedicated to a local family who owned a hardware and dress shop in 1887.
PIONEER WOMAN ROOM

CLOTHING AND QUILT ROOM
The clothing of pioneer people was a testament to resilience, functionality, and adaptability, reflecting the demands of a life on the edge of civilization.
GREENLEE ROOM
Named for the Greenlee family who settled in the late 1800's in Cheyenne County and later donated furnishings and artifacts found throughout the museum.
FIREARMS AND LEATHER ROOM
A compilation of artifacts from the area including a replica of the first Pony Express saddle.
NATIVE PEOPLES ROOM
Prehistoric tools, implements, and arrowheads along with beaded textiles from the local indigenous peoples of northern Nebraska.
TOY ROOM
Explore the resourceful and creative toys that entertained children in a simpler and less commercialized time.
LIBRARY ROOM
A time capsule of historical books, encyclopedias and antique typewriters, counting machines and SteroScopes telling a story of entertainment and commerce in the Old West.
SCHOOL ROOM
Offerers a glimpse into a one-room schoolhouse, of simplicity and earnest learning, capturing the essence of a foundational period in local education and community life.
BEDROOM
A domestic snapshot of early life of Sidney residents including clothing showcasing fashion sensibilities of earlier eras providing a window into the personal lives and capturing a glimpse of daily routines and aspirations.
RAILROAD ROOM
Pays homage to the city's origins intertwined with the construction of the railroad. It serves as a tribute to the rail depot, which once stood as the vibrant heart of the town.
KITCHEN
Is a charming snapshot of domestic life, showcasing the daily routines and tasks that defined the lives of early Sidney settlers and the officers' families.
PIONEER ROOM
