CCHA Committees

CCHA’s committee structure allows board members and volunteers to focus on key areas of preservation, operations, and community engagement. To contact a committee, please email fortsidneyne@gmail.com and include the committee name in the subject line.

Executive Committee (Officers)

Provides leadership for board operations and long-term organizational planning.

• Coordinates board meetings and follow-up

• Oversees bylaws, governance, and policy development

• Guides strategic planning and organizational direction

• Supports board recruitment and onboarding

• Leads digital systems, documentation, and internal processes

Finance & Fundraising Committee

Supports the financial health and sustainability of the organization.

• Assists with budget development and financial review

• Supports fundraising efforts and donor engagement

• Coordinates grant planning and funding strategies

• Maintains financial and donor records

• Assists with required nonprofit filings
  
  

Buildings & Grounds Committee

Maintains and monitors all historic properties and grounds.

• Conducts routine inspections of buildings and grounds

• Coordinates lawn care, snow removal, and maintenance

• Identifies repair needs and reports to the board

• Assists with basic upkeep and preservation efforts
  
  

Restoration Task Force (Temporary)

Leads major preservation and restoration projects.

• Coordinates contractors and restoration work

• Assists with grant-funded project documentation

• Monitors timelines, budgets, and progress

• Provides updates and recommendations to the board
  
  

Collections & Archives Committee

Ensures proper care and documentation of historical artifacts.

• Catalogs and documents museum collections

• Supports preservation and storage practices

• Follows accession procedures for new items

• Assists with research and exhibit development

Marketing & Communications Committee

Promotes the museum and connects with the community.

• Manages social media and digital communications

• Supports press releases and media outreach

• Assists with website updates and content

• Provides photography and visual storytelling

Outreach & Education Committee

Expands community engagement and educational opportunities.

• Coordinates school tours and educational visits

• Builds partnerships with schools and organizations

• Assists with programs, events, and demonstrations

• Supports volunteer and docent engagement
